SKYFORCE SELECTS THREE PLAYERS IN 2021 NBA G LEAGUE DRAFT

Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that the team has selected three players in the 2021 NBA G League Draft, including Brandon Knight (6th overall), Michael Smith (41st overall) and Joel Ntambwe (69th).

A nine-year NBA veteran from the University of Kentucky, Knight boasts 446 games played in his NBA career. He averaged 14.1 points on 41.1-percent shooting and four assists per game for five different NBA organizations.

Recently, Knight, a 6-2 182-pound guard, played in four games for the Brooklyn Nets 2021 Summer League team, averaging 8.8 points and two assists in 23.3 minutes per game.

Knight was a major factor in the 2011 NCAA Tournament run for the Wildcats, as he led them in scoring in three-of-five games and helped them reach the Final Four. His consistent play aided him to be selected as the eighth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons.

Smith, a 5-11, 185-pound guard from of the University of Michigan, started 28 games for the Wolverines in 2020-21, as he averaged 9 points and 5.3 assists per game. Smith was also a catalyst in a late NCAA tournament run as well, as Michigan went on to the Elite Eight. Smith highlighted a team leading 18 points and 5 assists in an 82-66 victory over Texas Southern in the first round of the East Regional.

This summer, Smith played in five games for the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2021 NBA Summer League, averaging 7.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 11.8 minutes per game.Before transferring to Michigan, Smith was an all-league player at Columbia, starting in 90-of-92 games and averaged 18 points and 4.3 assists per game in four seasons for the Lions. He led the Ivy League in total points scored (684) and points per game (22.8) in 2019-20. His 1,653 points are good for 11th all-time in Ivy League history.

Ntambwe, a 6-8, 225-pound forward out of Texas Tech, averaged 11.2 points and 5.4 rebounds in 23.2 minutes per game in his collegiate career. Before transferring to Texas Tech, Ntambwe played one season for UNLV, where he scored in double-digits in 16-of-31 games. He posted a career high in points in a victory against Wyoming on 1/5/19, scoring 31 points on 11-of-17 shooting.
