By Sioux Falls Skyforce Staff /April 5, 2024

Williams Named Most Improved Player, Amsler Named Executive of the Year

Sioux Falls, SD – The NBA G League and Sioux Falls Skyforce announced that Miami HEAT two-way player Alondes Williams and Miami HEAT Vice President of Player Personnel and Skyforce general manager have earned awards for the 2023-24 NBA G League season.

Alondes Williams has been named Most Improved Player, as he averaged 20.3 points on 49.8 percent from the field, 5.3 rebounds. 7.1 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.6 blocks per 37.4 minutes a game in 43 appearances for Sioux Falls between the Showcase Cup and regular season.

Williams broke the Skyforce single game scoring record (55 points on Jan. 7 vs Salt Lake City), represented the NBA G League and Skyforce at All-Star Weekend (Rising Stars and G League All-Star game), earned a two-way contract with the HEAT, and was NBA G League Player of the Month for January. He saw an eight-point uptick in points and over four-more assists per game compared to his rookie season with the Long Island Nets in 2022-23. Williams joins Gabe Vincent (2019-20) as the only players to earn NBA G League Most Improved Players in Skyforce history.

Amsler has been named Basketball Executive of the Year, becoming the second in franchise history (HEAT Vice President of Basketball Operations/Assistant General Manager Adam Simon in 2015-16) to earn such honors. Since becoming General Manager of the Skyforce in 2019-20, Amsler has helped the organization earn two playoff berths in three seasons and 24 NBA Call-Ups and a league leading 21 since the beginning of the 2021-22 season.

“As appreciative as I am for this award, and the votes from my colleagues from across the G League, this award is a total group effort, starting with Kasib Powell and his entire staff who work tirelessly in Sioux Falls with our players,” Amsler said. “The role of coach in the G League is amongst the hardest, as they deal with a constant revolving door of players that they’ll have for games and practices. It’s time to focus on the playoffs and hopefully get a chance at winning the championship trophy.”

Both Williams and Amsler will be presented their awards pregame tonight (Friday) by NBA G League Head of Basketball Operations Malik Rose.
