SKYFORCE ACQUIRES STANLEY JOHNSON

Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that the team has acquired Stanley Johnson from the available player pool.

Johnson, a 6-6, 242-pound guard out of Arizona was the eighth pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons.

He appeared in six games for the South Bay Lakers during the 2021-22 Showcase Cup, and averaged 15.3 points on 40.5 percent shooting, 6.7 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 2.0 assists per 30.6 minutes a game. His efforts earned him NBA Call-Ups with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers, where he would finish the season and averaged 6.7 points on 46.6 percent shooting, 3.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 0.9 steals per 22.8 minutes in 48 appearances (27 starts).

Prior to his time in 2021-22, Johnson had played six seasons in the NBA with the Toronto Raptors, New Orleans Pelicans and Detroit Pistons. He averaged a career-high 8.7 points on 37.5 percent shooting, 3.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steal per 27.4 minutes in 69 games (50 starts) in 2017-18 with the Pistons.

He appeared in 38 games (37) starts for the Arizona Wildcats in 2014-15 as a freshman and averaged 13.8 points on 44.6 percent shooting, 6.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.5 steals per 28.4 minutes a game. Johnson earned honors as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, All-Pac-12 First Team, Pac-12 All-Tournament Team and Maui Invitational MVP.

Tyler Hagedorn was waived to complete the transaction.

Johnson, who will wear #14 for the Skyforce, is expected to be available for the upcoming back-to-back with the Motor City Cruise on Dec. 8-9. Tip-off for both games will be 7:00 PM CST at the Sanford Pentagon.
