Skyforce Acquires Olin Carter III

Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced the team has acquired guard Olin Carter III and a 2024 second round draft pick from the Cleveland Charge in exchange for guard Jon Elmore.

Carter, a 6-3, 190-pound guard out of San Diego went undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft. He played in 125 games (122 starts) for the Toros from 2015-19, where he averaged 12.5 points on 40.1 percent shooting, 2.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 0.8 steals per 32.5 minutes a game.

After his collegiate career, he played for CBP Huesca of the Spanish LEB Silver League (2019-20), and in 24 games (18 starts), averaged 11.3 points on 40.6 percent shooting, 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per 23.7 minutes a game. Carter III played in 47 games (29 starts) for the Texas Legends in 2021-22, where he averaged 11.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals per 29.5 minutes a game. He played in 27 games for the Legends and Austin Spurs in 2022-23 and averaged 8.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per 15.5 minutes a game.

Carter III had his NBA G League rights traded to the Cleveland Charge ahead of the 2023-24 season. In 23 total games for the Charge between the Showcase Cup and regular reason, he has averaged 7.0 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.5 steals per 14.7 minutes a game.

He is expected to be available for this weekend’s contest against the Iowa Wolves, with tip-off slated for 7:00 PM CST from Wells Fargo Arena.
