SKYFORCE ACQUIRES JUSTIN CHAMPAGNIE

Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that the team has signed Justin Champagnie from waiver wire.

Champagnie, a 6-6, 210-pound forward, went undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft after spending two years at Pittsburgh.

He started 10 games for Raptors 905 this season as a two-way player and averaged 22.5 on 52.1 percent shooting (36.8 percent from deep), 10.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 blocks per 33.5 minutes a game. With Toronto, he appeared in three contests and averaged 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds per 3.6 minutes a game.

With Raptors 905 last season, as a part of his two-way contract, he appeared in 14 games (13 starts) and averaged 21.1 points on 48.9 percent shooting (40.9 percent from deep), 8.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals per 36.0 minutes a game. With Toronto, he averaged 2.3 points on 46.3 percent shooting and 2.0 rebounds per 7.8 minutes in 36 appearances.

He signed a two-way contract with the Toronto Raptors ahead of last season after playing in five games with the team in the 2021 NBA Summer League. Champagnie spent parts of two seasons with the team before being waived on December 29, 2022.

In two seasons at Pittsburgh from 2019-2021, Champagnie appeared in 53 games (46 starts) and averaged 12.7 points on 42.1 percent shooting, 8.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals per 33.2 minutes a game.

Champagnie is expected to be available for the Skyforce’s upcoming road games on Thursday and Friday against the Santa Cruz Warriors. Tip-off is slated for 9:00 PM CST from Kaiser Permanente Arena.
