Skyforce Acquires Josh Christopher

The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced the team has acquired guard Josh Christopher off waivers.

Christopher, a 6-4 215-pound guard out of Arizona State was the 24th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets. He spent two seasons with the Rockets from 2021-23 and averaged 6.9 points on 45.5 percent shooting, 1.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 0.7 steals per 15.4 minutes in 138 appearances (four starts).

He was traded on 7/8/23 to the Memphis Grizzlies, along with the draft rights to Vanja Marinkovic, in exchange for Dillon Brooks. He was waived on 9/30/23 and signed a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz on 10/13/23. He appeared in 19 Showcase Cup and regular season games for the Salt Lake City Stars as a part of his two-way contract and averaged 17.9 points on 46.8 percent shooting, 4.9 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.7 steals per 29.1 minutes a game.

Prior to his professional career, Christopher started 15 games for the Sun Devils in 2020-21and averaged 14.3 points on 43.2 percent from the field, 4.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.5 steals per 29.8 minutes a game.

Christopher is expected to be available for the Skyforce’s next game, on Monday, at the Texas Legends. Tip-off is slated for 3:30 PM CST from Comerica Center. Peter Jok was waived to complete the transaction.
