Series Preview: vs Hustle

By Sioux Falls Skyforce Staff /January 15, 2022

The Skyforce returns home after going 2-1 on a three-game Western Conference road trip.

Sioux Falls (2-2) dropped a tough 96-95 decision to the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario on Wednesday night, as a bucket in the final seconds secured the game for ACC.

There were many positives to take from the loss, though, as Mike Smith has emerged as a true threat for the Skyforce. In the three-game road swing, he posted a career-high in assists (15), and back-to-back games topping his career-high in points (19 on 1/10 and 31 on 10-18 FGA on 1/12).

Tarkus Ferguson continues to stay hot off the bench, as his 16 points on 55.3 percent shooting (17-29 3PA) for 58.6 percent) is good for third on the team. He has posted 14-plus points in three-of-four outings in the regular season so far.

Dru Smith has found his footing, as he's posted back-to-back outings with 15-plus points, four-plus rebounds and four-plus assists.

The team recently added two-time NBA World Champion Mario Chalmers, who finished his 10-day NBA Call Up with the Miami HEAT. Chalmers spent eight seasons in Miami after his comeback.

The focus will now be placed on the Memphis Hustle, as the Western Conference foe comes to the Pentagon at 0-2, with losses to Santa Cruz and Iowa. David Stockton leads the Hustle with 21 points per game.

Memphis features former South Dakota Coyotes forward Tyler Hagedorn. The Norfolk, Neb. native is averaging 12.5 points per game for the Hustle so far this season.
