A win tonight against the Windy City Bulls keeps the Skyforce in the conversation for their first appearance in the Showcase Cup in Orlando next week.
Sioux Falls comes into the contest winners of four of the last five games and three-straight on the road, with the latter being a 110-106 victory over the Motor City Cruise on Tuesday morning.
Justin Champagnie produced his third 20-plus-point, 15-plus-rebound game in his last four tries, as he led with 35 points (13-22 FGA) and 16 rebounds. Drew Peterson produced his fifth game of 20-plus points scored this season with 25 points on 11-16 FGA and nine assists.
HEAT assignee Nikola Jovic produced 16 points and 11 rebounds, tying a G League career-high. Brandon McCoy added eight points and a season-high 16 rebounds.
The Force looks to split the season series with the Bulls, as they took down Sioux Falls 141-125 on 11/22. Seven Windy City players scored in double figures, as Chicago two-way player Adama Sanogo led the team with 26 points and 14 rebounds. Julian Phillips also added 29 points in the victory.
With a victory tonight, the Skyforce has to wait until the conclusion of the Showcase Cup schedule (Sunday) to find out their fate for entry to the tournament. The tie-breaker works by head-to-head, followed by point differential, and lastly a coin flip.
Scheduling will be released later this weekend regarding who the Skyforce plays at the Winter Showcase. Windy City wraps up play against Motor City on Sunday, who's also in contention.
PETERSON GETS THE CALL
· Drew Peterson earned the 11th NBA Call-Up this season and second for the Sioux Falls Skyforce with the Boston Celtics.
· The Libertyville, IL native produced his fourth-straight game of 20+ points scored on Tuesday (the Force was 5-0 in games when he scored 20+ points so far this season).
· Peterson becomes the 16th NBA Call-Up under Skyforce head coach Kasib Powell.
CHI CITY: COMIN' HOME AGAIN
· Brandon McCoy, a Chicago, IL native, returns to his home metro area to play for the second time this season.
· "A lot of friends and family dreamed of playing professional sports here," McCoy said. "It's bigger than playing for myself - I play for this city each and every day, no matter where I am at. There's a lot of people I know that didn't make it, or get to live their dream out. I am keeping their dream alive, too. I think about it every time I lace up my shoes."
· McCoy has eight games of eight-plus rebounds so far this season - and the Skyforce is 7-1 during those games.
CRASHING THE GLASS
· Sioux Falls finished with a season-high 62 rebounds on Tuesday, which marks the second most in the Kasib Powell era and most since 11/8/21 at Iowa (64 total rebounds).
· It marked the first time in over two seasons that three Skyforce players have secured double digit rebounds.
