SIOUX FALLS, SD – NBA G League President Shareef Abdur-Rahim announced last Thursday that the remainder of the 2019-20 G League season has officially been cancelled. The season had initially been postponed on March 12 due to Coronavirus concerns. Official statements from Skyforce President Mike Heineman and Head Coach Eric Glass are below, followed by the organization’s official refund policy.
“While we are disappointed that our season has come to an early end, we fully understand and accept the NBA G League’s decision to cancel the remainder of the season” said Heineman. “The best interests of our players, coaches, employees and fans will always be our first priority.”
“I understand and respect the G League’s decision to cancel the remainder of our season, but it still hurts,” said Coach Glass. “We all wanted to finish the run that we were on and bring the playoffs back to the Sanford Pentagon. The support from our Sioux Falls community made my first experience as a head coach unforgettable, and for that I will forever be grateful. I am going to miss our dinners at Look’s Meat Market in Sioux Falls but I’m excited to be back soon!”
“There were still many things to be excited about this year,” Heineman continued. “Our fan support and homecourt advantage at the Sanford Pentagon was incredible. We saw a number of our players earn NBA Call-Ups, and first-year Head Coach Eric Glass had our team back in the playoff race before our season was cut short. We are now able to focus our efforts solely on the 2020-21 season that lies in front of us, and we’re excited to pick up where we left off when play resumes.”
