SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today several front office additions, including Brian Lankton as Assistant Coach, Connor Erickson as Director of Basketball Operations, Eric Amsler as Assistant General Manager and Ian Lackey as Athletic Trainer.
Lankton returns to the Skyforce organization after having spent last season as a Video Coordinator Intern for the Sacramento Kings. Lankton joins fellow Assistant Coach Kasib Powell on third-year Head Coach Nevada Smith’s staff. Previously, Lankton served as Director of Basketball Operations for the Skyforce during the 2016-17 season and was a Basketball Operations Intern during the 2015-16 season. In total, Lankton has been working within the NBA and NBA G League since 2014, when he began as a Basketball Operations Intern with the Iowa Energy.
Erickson has been promoted to Director of Basketball Operations in just his second season of service, having spent the 2017-18 season as a Basketball Operations Intern in Sioux Falls.
Amsler, now in his 15th season with the Miami HEAT organization, has been promoted to Assistant General Manager for the Skyforce in addition to his role as the HEAT’s Director of Scouting. He will join Sioux Falls Assistant General Managers, Dave Beyer and Keith Askins, on Adam Simon’s staff. After starting as Miami’s basketball operations intern during the 2004-05 season, Amsler has since served as the Scouting and Information Coordinator from 2005-07 and the Scouting and Player Personnel Coordinator from 2007-14. Lastly, he served as HEAT’s Director of Scouting Operations for two seasons before moving into his current role.
Lackey joins the Skyforce having spent the past two years as a full-time Athletic Trainer for the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD. Prior to his full-time role, Lackey accepted a graduate assistantship as an athletic trainer at USD in 2014, where he worked while completing his master’s degree in Kinesiology and Sports Science with an emphasis in exercise science. Lackey is a 2014 graduate of Dakota Wesleyan University where he earned an undergraduate degree in Athletic Training.
