SKYFORCE ACQUIRES TARKUS FERGUSON

Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that the team has acquired guard Tarkus Ferguson off waivers. The transaction fills an open roster spot left by Ja’Vonte Smart’s NBA Call-Up.

Ferguson, a 6-4, 190-pound guard out of the University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) went undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft.

He spent the first four games of the 2021-22 season with UBSC Raiffeisen Graz of the A Bundeslig League. He averaged 1.0 point. 2.0 rebounds and 1.25 assists in 11.9 minutes per game.

Prior to playing for UBSC Raiffeisen Graz, Ferguson started all 127 games for UIC, averaging 12.96 points on 40.6-percent shooting, 5.86 rebounds and 4.98 assists per game. He was named to the Horizon All-Freshman team in 2016-17, averaging 11.17 points on 40.1-percent shooting, 5.31 rebounds and 4.98 assists per game. As a sophomore, Ferguson averaged 10.56 points on 37.9-percent shooting, 5.48 rebounds and 5.04 assists in 2017-18. He posted a career-high 15.47 points on 41-percent shooting, 6.75 rebounds and 5.19 assists per game as a junior in 2018-19. Ferguson was able to earn 2019 and 2020 Horizon All-Second Team honors, along with being a member of the 2020 Horizon All-Tournament Team, posting 15.0 points per game and 8.25 rebounds in the tournament. He capped off his collegiate career with a trip to the Horizon League Conference Championship in 2019-20.

Ferguson will wear No. 4 for the Skyforce this season and is expected to be available for the team’s upcoming home game on Friday (tomorrow), December 3 at 7:00 PM CT against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants at the Sanford Pentagon.
