SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that the team has acquired the returning player rights to forward Perry Ellis from the Wisconsin Herd in exchange for the returning player rights to guard Ike Nwamu.
After going undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft, Ellis joined the Charlotte Hornets for training camp before he was allocated to the Greensboro Swarm for the 2016-17 season. With the Swarm, he appeared in 50 regular season games (12 starts), averaging 9.8 points and 4.7 rebounds in 22.4 minutes per game.
The Wisconsin Herd acquired Ellis in the third round of the 2017 NBA G League Expansion Draft, but Ellis spent his 2017-18 season overseas with the Sydney Kings of the NBL and Red October Cantu in the Italian Lega A. Ellis appeared in 27 games for the Kings (26 starts), averaging 14.8 points and 5.7 rebounds in 30.4 minutes per game. In addition, he appeared in 14 games (six starts) for Red October Cantu, averaging 7.1 points and 4.9 rebounds in 20.0 minutes per game.
Ellis played four seasons at Kansas University prior to his professional career. While there, he posted career numbers of 12.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. He earned All-Big 12 First Team honors in each of his final two seasons, and posted career-high numbers with 16.9 points and 5.8 rebounds in 30.3 minutes per game in his 2015-16 senior season. In total, he appeared in 144 games (109 starts) for KU and started 106 of his last 107 over his final three seasons in a Jayhawk uniform.
