Season Recap: Rodney Purvis

By Matt Dykstra | April 17, 2019

Rodney Purvis’ season was a rollercoaster, but was still a success in many ways. Though his 14.5 points per game is more than respectable, it fell short of his own expectations after averaging 20.5 points per game with the Lakeland Magic during his rookie campaign. The drop-off, in large part, was due to shooting just 30.9 percent from three-point range this year, an 8.4 percent drop from the previous season. However, Purvis found ways to maintain his effectiveness despite his inefficiency from the field.

In the end, Purvis became an iron man of sorts for the Skyforce this season, appearing in a team-high 49-of-50 games. No other player appeared in more than 40 games. In a season that featured arguably the most roster turnover that the Skyforce have ever had, Purvis (29 starts) found himself a part of 18 different starting lineups over the course of the season.
