Game Preview: at Clippers

The young Skyforce team is finding their way after growing pains in the Showcase Cup. Coming into the game with Agua Caliente, the Skyforce sit 2-1 after a two-game series sweep of the Salt Lake City Stars.

Mike Smith has emerged as PG1 for Sioux Falls, as he posted a career-high 15 assists (just one turnover) on Saturday and then followed it up with a career-high 19 points, six assists and four rebounds on Monday.

DJ Stewart played efficient with the ball out of his hands, as he scored 19 points on 6-9 FGA, four rebounds and a career-high five assists. After going 3-18 FGA in his first two games back from a month off, Dru Smith showed the game he possessed in the Showcase Cup. He scored 15 points on 6-13 FGA and added a career-high eight rebounds and four assists.

Agua Caliente comes into the contest having not played a game since Dec. 22 at the Winter Showcase. They finished the Showcase Cup with a 9-5 record, winning their first and last three games.

The Clippers have extensive offensive firepower on their roster. Los Angeles Clippers assignee Brandon Boston led Agua Caliente in scoring in the Showcase Cup, averaging 21.0 points in six appearances. Assignee Keon Johnson posted 15.9 points in nine appearances, while two-way player Jay Scrubb posted 19.8 points in 10 appearances.

The contest between the two organizations marks the first time they will meet in almost two years, as the Clippers defeated the Skyforce 117-103 on Jan. 28, 2020. Miami HEAT forward KZ Okpala led Sioux Falls with 19 points.
