Trail Blazers’ assistant coach Nate Tibbetts not only has ties to the Skyforce, but has ties to the Sioux Falls community as well. Tibbetts is now in his fourth season as an assistant coach with the Trail Blazers, serving two seasons as an assistant for the Cleveland Cavaliers prior to that.

Tibbetts was a member of the Skyforce coaching staff for four seasons, spanning from 2005-09, and was promoted to head coach in his last two years with the team. He has also served as an assistant coach at the University of Sioux Falls, and was a star player at the University of South Dakota.

The Portland Trail Blazers have called up just one player from the Skyforce over the years. Monty Buckley was called up during the 1998-99 season.
