Orlando Summer League: Day 2

By Matt Dykstra | July 2, 2017

Orlando Magic 81, Miami HEAT 68

The Orlando Magic started the game on a 21-0 run, a deficit that proved too much for the HEAT to come back from. However, midway through the third quarter, Miami cut the deficit to just five points, trailing 53-48, but were never able to come any closer.

Okaro White led the way in scoring for the second game in a row for the HEAT, posting 15 points and six rebounds, but shot just 4-14 from the field in the game. White, who has been focused on his playmaking ability over the offseason, expressed a displeasure in his performance after the game, but is anxious to get back out there and continue to compete over the next few days.

“I was down on myself today a little bit. I didn’t think I played up to my ability, but I thought I did some good things, as far as pushing it a little bit. I just want to stay lower when I’m pushing it against shorter guys. I still want to get into the offense, and try and be a playmaker, you know? I’m not trying to put up 20 shots…30 shots. So I just try and keep going as these games keep getting played out.”

Miami rookie Bam Adebayo posted 14 points, nine rebounds and two blocks, while summer league signees London Perrantes and Gian Clavell each posted 12 points in the loss for the HEAT.

Magic first-round draft pick Jonathan Isaac tallied 15 points and 13 rebounds in just 22 minutes, while NBA D-League Alumni Marcus Georges-Hunt and Kalin Lucas each posted 12 points.

Okaro White and the HEAT are set to take on Bubu Palo, Jarnell Stokes and the Indiana Pacers tomorrow (Monday) night at 5:00 PM ET on NBATV and the WatchESPN app.
