McGruder Makes Quick Visit to Sioux Falls

By Matt Dykstra | August 22, 2017

Rodney McGruder visited Sioux Falls last weekend, but if you weren’t a part of the Celebrate Community Church congregation, there’s a good chance you missed it. McGruder made a 24-hour pit-stop in the 605, speaking as a special guest at Celebrate in multiple services.

Welcome special guest, Rodney McGruder from the Miami Heat to Celebrate Church this weekend! We are so excited to have him join us! You DON'T want to miss!

It’s been clear over the years that McGruder isn’t one that readily sheds light on himself or his work, as evidenced by his role on the 2016 Skyforce Championship team and in his 65 starts as a rookie for the Miami HEAT last season.

So, it’s not entirely surprising that he stopped in to give back to the Sioux Falls community without any notice or warning, and left before anyone could catch up with him. Though, some managed to catch a quick photo with him while he was here.

McGruder, who has been an active member of both the Sioux Falls and Miami community, and has never turned down an opportunity to invest in those around him. His faith plays a big role in that, and he’s never been afraid to share it with those who ask.

“Basketball doesn’t define me,” said McGruder at Celebrate Church this weekend. “The human being that I am defines me…and being a child of God. Trying to abide by his word in the best way possible. I use this platform to try to inspire others to walk by the same faith that I walk by.”
